Last changed 16 October 2026.
These terms are between you and Vincent Jacobs, trading as Code & Vin, who runs Outpost. By creating an account or using the public check you agree to them. If you use Outpost for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you may do so.
Outpost is software that keeps a record of who controls each part of your websites, checks them from outside, and tells you when something breaks. It looks only at what anyone can see of a site, the way a browser or a search engine does. It never logs in to, changes or stores passwords for the sites it watches.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell its owners why.
Plans and prices are on the pricing page. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record, in US dollars, with any taxes worked out at checkout. A subscription renews by itself each month or year until you cancel it. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan carries on to the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.
A discount code or free period applies as stated when it is given. When a free period ends, the subscription is charged at its normal price unless it was cancelled first.
Prices may change. A new price applies to a subscription from its first renewal at least 30 days after its owners are told by email.
A written audit is a single payment for one site whose domain the account has proved it controls. It is written by Vincent Jacobs, trading as Code & Vin and sent to the account’s owners.
If an account moves to a smaller plan, or a payment fails and is not made good within seven days, its sites are not dropped. They carry on being watched on the Free plan’s schedule, and nothing recorded is deleted.
Outpost checks from outside and can miss things: a fault it cannot see, an alert delayed by an email or Slack outage, or a problem between checks. It does not replace backups, security software or the people who look after your sites. It is provided as it is, and we do not promise it will never be unavailable or wrong.
As far as the law allows, Vincent Jacobs, trading as Code & Vin is not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or business, and the total liability for anything to do with Outpost is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
What you record in Outpost is yours. We use it only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can download it or delete your account at any time.
When you record other people in Outpost, such as the developer who holds a login, your organisation must be entitled to, and is responsible for that information under the Protection of Personal Information Act. Outpost holds it on your behalf.
We may change these terms. If a change matters, everyone with an account is told by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. You can stop using Outpost and delete your account whenever you like; a paid subscription is cancelled first.
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
